We’re sure many of you reading this would have received an SMS from VK-ITDEFL that talks about receiving alerts on TDS deductions.
The message reads:
Our Government is happy to launch Quarterly SMS service for salaried persons about their TDS deductions.
As is apparent, the SMS alerts will tell you about TDS deducted on your salary every quarter. The Finance Ministry has initiated this service to increase transparency and decrease the cases of TDS mismatches at the time of filing income tax returns.
You can match the SMS alerts with the information in your payslips to see that there is no TDS mismatch between the two. This service will be helpful because TDS mismatch is a common reason for income tax returns being filed incorrectly.
Of course, you can also get all details about TDS deducted on your salary as well as other payments made to you by viewing your Form 26AS. The Form 26AS is a tax credit statement that can be downloaded from the Income Tax Department’s website. You can even directly import your Form 26AS data while filing your income tax returns with ClearTax.
